Digital Skills for Teachers

The video series is part of a MOOC, collaboratively developed across institutional borders with contributions from ETH, ZHdK, and UZH.

Project abstract

ETH took the lead in producing the introductory chapter for the MOOC, which consists of eight videos. The video series offers an in-depth exploration of the intricate world of higher education videos, beginning with a primarily theoretical approach. Central to this exploration is the inquiry into the functioning of audio-visual perception and how videos can be utilized in a scientifically rigorous and pedagogically meaningful manner, effectively enhancing contemporary university teaching. Throughout the series, we present the distinctive characteristics of videos and provide illuminating examples of the codes employed in audio-visual knowledge transfer. What better medium to convey this information than video itself? The subsequent chapters aim to acquaint viewers with video as a language for scientific communication and inspire them to critically and reflectively employ this medium in the context of academic instruction.  

The videos are available on the MOOC platform and can also be accessed through our LET ETH YouTube channel, expanding their reach to a wider audience.
